系列演講(七):多元文化震撼教育

族群關係與文化研究所「新移民與多元文化教學發展計畫」所開設之課程「多元文化、公民與人權」(謝若蘭老師)邀請於日本教授英語之美籍教師Sarah Elizabeth Snyder到校演講。Snyder將分享她在世界各地所遇到的文化震撼與被當成 「他者」 的個人生命歷程。歡迎參與!

講題:多元文化震撼教育(The Many Kinds of Descrimination)
講綱:
Sarah will talk about her experiences in Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Germany, Mexico, New Zealand, and the UK, her experiences with culture shock, and how she have been discriminated for and against in countries of interest. She will also speak about how these experiences have changed her as a person.

講者介紹:
Sarah Elizabeth Snyder is an aspiring scholar from Arizona in the United States of America in the field of Sociolinguistics. Her research interests include second language writing, bilingualism, English as a world language, and second language acquisition. After attaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Literature, Writing, and Film from Arizona State University, she moved to Japan to study Japanese and teach English. Sarah Elizabeth has lived in Japan since July 2009, in Oita ken on the southern island of Kyushu. She has also been a cultural ambassador to England, Ireland, Wales, New Zealand, an exchange student and volunteer in Mexico, and has traveled for leisure to Germany, Thailand, South Korea, and to 48 of the 50 United States. Her hobbies include International and American style ballroom dancing, Salsa dancing, and Brazilian-style samba dancing. She hopes to travel the world, facilitating positive cultural interaction through teaching and research at the University level.
